Itinerary

  1. As we cross the Isthmus, we stop to see the great feat of engineering that finally opened the route between the Gulf of Corinth and the Saronic Gulf - the Corinth Canal. It was finished in 1893, even though the idea existed at least as far back as 602 BC!

    20 min

  2. The Monastery of Timiou Prodromou, one of the most impressive monasteries in the region. Built into the cliffs of the Lousios Gorge, this serene and historic site offers spectacular panoramic views. The monastery, dating back to the 12th century, is home to a small group of monks and features beautifully preserved frescoes, manuscripts, and religious artifacts. A peaceful walk through its courtyards allows visitors to immerse themselves in its spiritual atmosphere and learn about its long-standing role in Greek Orthodox history.

    1 h

  3. Next, we travel deeper into the heart of the Peloponnese to visit Moni Philosophou, also known as the "Philosopher’s Monastery." It is one of the oldest monasteries in Greece, founded in the 10th century. This monastery is split into two sections: the Old Monastery, hidden inside a cave, and the New Monastery, which was built in the 17th century. Here, we will also learn about the secret school (Krifo Scholio) that operated during the Ottoman occupation, where Greek children were secretly taught language and history to preserve their heritage.

    1.5 h

  4. As we drive through the scenic villages of Dimitsana, Stemnitsa, and Levidi, you’ll be captivated by the charming stone-built houses, lush green landscapes, and picturesque streets. Along the way, you have the flexibility to stop wherever you wish—whether it’s for a refreshing coffee, a delicious meal at a traditional taverna, or a leisurely walk through the cobbled streets of one of these historic settlements.

About Athens

Athens sets the Acropolis above a sprawling modern capital, where ancient ruins, hillside lanes and long taverna evenings sit side by side.

The Parthenon crowns the Acropolis, flanked by the Erechtheion and its porch of caryatids, and the Acropolis Museum at the foot of the hill displays sculpture found on the rock. Around it, the Ancient Agora, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian's Arch and the marble Panathenaic Stadium make the classical city easy to walk through.

Top-ranked sights in Athens: Acropolis, Parthenon, Acropolis Museum.
