Experience the best of Singapore

Singapore is a gleaming island city-state where futuristic gardens, colonial landmarks and multicultural neighbourhoods meet outstanding hawker food.

Marina Bay is the showpiece, with the three towers and rooftop deck of Marina Bay Sands, the Merlion statue spouting water into the bay, and the supertrees and glass domes of Gardens by the Bay, which glow in light shows after dark. The colonial core nearby holds the National Gallery, the Asian Civilisations Museum and the white facade of the Raffles Hotel.

Chinatown's temples and shophouses, Little India's spice shops and the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, and Kampong Glam's Sultan Mosque and Haji Lane show the city's cultural mix. Orchard Road is the shopping boulevard, the Singapore Botanic Gardens is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a renowned orchid garden, and Sentosa island has beaches, theme parks and a cable car across the water.

Hawker centres such as Maxwell, Lau Pa Sat and Newton serve chicken rice, laksa, chilli crab and satay. The climate is hot and humid all year, and Chinese New Year, in January or February, hangs Chinatown with red lanterns and fills its streets with festive markets. The zoo and its Night Safari, and the riverside bars of Clarke Quay, round out a visit.
