Experience the best of Malaga
Málaga is a sunny Andalusian port on the Costa del Sol, the birthplace of Picasso, with a Moorish fortress, city beaches and a thriving museum scene.

The Alcazaba, a Moorish fortress-palace, climbs the hill above the old town, with Gibralfaro Castle higher still and views over the port and bay. At its foot lie the Roman Theatre and the cathedral, nicknamed La Manquita, the one-armed lady, because its second tower was never finished.
Pablo Picasso was born here, and the Picasso Museum and his birthplace on Plaza de la Merced trace his life and work. The Carmen Thyssen Museum, the colourful glass cube of a modern art centre on the harbour, and the waterfront promenade of Muelle Uno show how the city has embraced culture. The Atarazanas market is a feast of produce, and La Malagueta beach is a short walk from the centre.
Local favourites include sardines grilled on skewers over beach fires, fried fish and sweet Málaga wine. Spring and autumn are perfect, in August the Feria de Málaga brings music, flamenco dresses and dancing to the old town, and winter is mild and sunny. Ronda, the Caminito del Rey gorge walk, the caves of Nerja and Granada's Alhambra are all within reach.
