Experience the best of La Coruña
A Coruña, or La Coruña in Spanish, is a Galician port on a peninsula, with the Roman Tower of Hercules, glass-fronted galleries and Atlantic beaches.

A Coruña occupies a peninsula that juts into the Atlantic on the north-west coast of Spain, in Galicia. The Tower of Hercules, a lighthouse that has been guiding ships since Roman times, stands at its northern end and is a World Heritage site. In the centre, the white-framed glass galleries along the Avenida de la Marina have earned it the nickname City of Glass, and María Pita Square, with its grand town hall, is the main plaza.
The beaches of Riazor and Orzán sit in the city, and a seafront promenade runs for kilometres around the peninsula past the Domus museum, shaped like a ship's sail, and the Aquarium Finisterrae. The old quarter has Romanesque and Baroque churches and quiet squares. Inland, Betanzos is a medieval town, Santiago de Compostela lies to the south, and the Costa da Morte, the Coast of Death, runs west with lighthouses and cliffs.
Pulpo a feira, octopus with paprika and olive oil on wooden plates, is the Galician classic, with empanada, shellfish and Albariño white wine. Bonfires fill the beaches on the night of San Juan in June, and the Atlantic climate is mild, with frequent drizzle.
