Experience the best of Collingwood

Collingwood sits at the southern end of Georgian Bay, a great arm of Lake Huron, in southern Ontario, below the Niagara Escarpment. It grew as a shipbuilding and grain port, and the harbour's old elevators and a main street of brick buildings and cafés still show that past. The Blue Mountains, a high part of the escarpment, rise steeply just west of town.

The Bruce Trail, the oldest and longest marked footpath in Canada, follows the escarpment through the area. Wasaga Beach, a long freshwater beach, lies to the east, and the village of Thornbury to the west lies on the Apple Pie Trail of orchards and bakeries. Blue Mountain Village has ski slopes, mountain bike trails and shops.

Fresh apples, cider and pies come from the orchards, farm stands along the roads sell sweet corn and honey in season, and whitefish and perch come from Georgian Bay. The escarpment forest turns gold and red in autumn.
