Itinerary
The eternally historical Diocletian's Palace is especially perfect during Christmas time. All the streets and alleys around the palace are traditionally decorated. You can find the Christmas market beside the square.
The oldest Catholic cathedral prepares for the main event of the year. The bell tower is particularly splendid in December. (Visit from outside)
Locals have a sign to touch the big toe of the bronze statue of Grgur Ninski. You can get there and make a wish for the next year. Let it happen!
The main square is the place for the big Christmas market with its numerous cafes, boutiques, and shops.
Exquisitely adorned, the building of the Prokurativa is a must-have on a list of Christmas sights in Split. Venetian colonnades and reliefs above the windows blend ancient and Renaissance influences beautifully.
The Riva Promenade becomes a pretty nicely decorated boulevard during the Christmas period. The Mediterranean winter atmosphere is combined with the traditional Christmas.

About Split
Split is a busy Dalmatian port built within and around a Roman emperor's palace, with ferries to some of Croatia's loveliest islands.
Diocletian's Palace, built around the turn of the fourth century as the emperor's retirement home, is the old town itself: its walls, cellars and courtyards hold homes, shops and cafés. The Peristyle, the colonnaded heart, leads to the Cathedral of St Domnius, once the emperor's mausoleum, and its bell tower gives views over the rooftops.
Top-ranked sights in Split: Budikovac Island (Veliki Budikovac), Blue Lagoon Croatia (Krknjasi Bay), Peristyle Square (Peristil).
