Itinerary
Plitvice are known as a natural phenomenon because they keep changing through sedimentation of calcium carbonate and create special kinds of algae and moss, tufa or travertine which has been deposited and is still deposited to form the natural dams that separate the lakes. Since the process is ongoing today, just as it always has, new travertine barriers, curtains, stalactites, channels, and cascades are built as the existing ones keep changing. So it doesn’t matter if you have visited the lakes before, they probably look different now, so you can visit them again and never be bored. Besides the lakes, there are some interesting caves in which remains of prehistoric settlements have been found.

5Plitvice Lakes tour
We had a fantastic time and our guide Richard and driver Marko made our day fun and gave us some interesting facts about the history of the area . The Plitvice lakes were stunning and the water was unbelievably clear and spectacular. It truly is a site to experience.

5Worthwhile experience!
This tour was absolutely amazing and I would recommend anyone to do it!! Plitvice Lakes is stunning and such a wonderful part of Croatia to explore. Sanja, our tour guide, was fantastic!! She was lovely and friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. It was incredible that she remembered all 55 peoples names and shows that she really cares about the people on the tour. The pace of the tour was great, plenty of opportunity to stop and walk slowly and of course get your pictures! Also, Marco our driver was friendly and we felt comfortable on the coach! There is no downside to Sanja, Marco or the tour, that was all truly amazing and we had such a lovely time. The only downsides we faced was that our tour was fully booked at 55 people, which meant we were packed tightly in the bus, with not much room. We were sat at the back of the bus (as all other seats were taken), which has less legroom than the regular seats and was incredibly hot. Sanja and Marco turned the aircon up for us, but it was still really hot and uncomfortable. On top of this, my friend was in the back right seat and had some pink liquid dripping from the plastic above. We alerted Sanja and she tried to sort it for us, but there wasn’t much that could be done, so we positioned the curtain to stop it dripping on our heads. I understand the company wants to make money, but I think the bus should not be completely full. We can only be grateful we were doing the tour in September with temperature in the low 20s as opposed to in summer as I think we would’ve overheated badly. The coach also didn’t have toilet, which wasn’t a major issue as the gas station breaks were at appropriate times, however some people may have difficulty with that. We would’ve benefitted from a longer lunch break, we had about 30 minutes, which allowed us a quick bite and drink, but if we had longer that would’ve been better. There are toilets at the start of the tour of the lakes, the lunch break and at the end which was convenient. Overall, the tour was amazing, and I would definitely do it again, although I would make sure the tour is not fully booked. Huge thanks to Marco and especially Sanja for an amazing day we won’t forget!

About Split
Split is a busy Dalmatian port built within and around a Roman emperor's palace, with ferries to some of Croatia's loveliest islands.
Diocletian's Palace, built around the turn of the fourth century as the emperor's retirement home, is the old town itself: its walls, cellars and courtyards hold homes, shops and cafés. The Peristyle, the colonnaded heart, leads to the Cathedral of St Domnius, once the emperor's mausoleum, and its bell tower gives views over the rooftops.
Top-ranked sights in Split: Budikovac Island (Veliki Budikovac), Blue Lagoon Croatia (Krknjasi Bay), Peristyle Square (Peristil).
