After that, we drive south in order to reach the archeological site of the prehistoric city of Akrotiri. One hour of free time to see and visit the excavations of the best-preserved prehistoric settlement of Aegean. Our next stop is a traditional winery for tasting and presentation of Santorini’s local wines. We will step on the ancient vineyard and get interesting info for the special “terroir” of Santorini. About Santorini
Santorini is a crescent of volcanic cliffs in the Aegean, where whitewashed villages and blue domes look over a flooded caldera to famous sunsets.
The island is the rim of an ancient volcano whose eruption left a vast caldera filled by the sea. On its edge, Fira, the main town, and the clifftop villages of Imerovigli and Firostefani cling to the slopes, while Oia, at the northern tip, is celebrated for its sunset views over windmills and whitewashed houses.
Top-ranked sights in Santorini: Red Beach, White Beach, Santorini Volcano.
