Highlights

Leaving from Holyhead port, spend the afternoon with us, taking in the stunning scenery and unique history of this fabulous island. You will learn about welsh culture and how to say Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch ! Learn about the history of the island, from 5500 year old burial chambers to the impressive Beaumaris castle. Lots of excellent photo opportunities along the way, including the Menai Straits and the stunning cliffs at South Stack. With a maximum of 8 guests, we can ensure the personal touch and doubtless share a few laughs on the way. We guarantee to get you back to Holyhead in time for your cruise. The last 2 stops are near Holyhead and can be adjusted to fit the remaining time. We aim to be back at least 30 minutes before the last shuttle bus.

Itinerary

  1. Have a relaxing morning onboard your ship or take in the town of Holyhead before our 1.00 pick up time. We start with a scenic drive across Anglesey to the train station with a very long name! Learn about the Welsh language and have a go at saying Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

    40 min

  2. Take in the stunning views of the Menai Straits. Backed by the majestic mountains of Snowdonia, our viewpoint allows you to see the 198 year old Menai Suspension Bridge spanning the fast flowing waters of the straits.

    25 min

  3. Spend time in Beautiful Beaumaris. You can tour the moated castle that dates from 1295 (entry ticket not included), indulge yourself in the boutique shops or just wander round this beautiful little town by the sea with views to Snowdonia.

    1.2 h

  4. See this little piece of ancient history. The oldest of the 3 burial chambers here is 5500 years old. They may be small, but they are very old; older than Stonehenge or the Pyramids! Learn about Anglesey's long and unique history, learning how the island got its name.

    50 min

  5. Stand on top of the stunning cliffs, looking down at the lighthouse far below. Birdwatchers will see a range of seabirds; we can provide the binoculars! Note; some cruises depart at 5pm and we always ensure that you are back at the port an hour early, so this part of the trip will have to be missed if your ship is one that departs early. The owners of the lighthouse usually offer morning tours there, we would recommend that you do this as well if your ship departs at 5pm. Unfortunately, there is not time to go down the 400+ steps to the lighthouse, but the views are best from the top and it saves your knees the hard work!

  • 4September 1 adventure

Trevor, our driver, did an excellent job with communication prior to starting to tour requiring where would meet us . This was challenging because our cruise line changed locations of arrival twice. Trevor provided good information throughout the tour. I would have liked an opportunity to stop once during the beautiful farm land for photo op .

  • 5Delightful tour with a great guide

We have nothing but praise for this tour. Our guide, Trevor was excellent. He was informative, friendly and entertaining. We felt guilty because we were the only two people signed up for that day's tour, so we offered to forego the tour, but he insisted on taking just the two of us. In fact, since he lives in Llandudno, where we were staying, he picked us up at our hotel and saved us a train ride to Holyhead. He and his wife, Lawrie (who drove) treated us like visiting family. All of the stops were great, with enough time at each stop. He did his best to teach us to say "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" but we weren't embarrassingly bad at it. We enjoyed a snack at the tea room in the community center in Beaumaris, in lieu of touring the interior of Beaumaris Castle. The highlight of the tour was probably the cliffs and lighthouse at South Stack - spectacular on a sunny afternoon. Because there were no passengers to get back to the ferry, we were also able to visit the Trefignath burial tomb, a set of three burial chambers older than Stonehenge, a site where we were the only visitors. Trevor even dropped us off at the hotel we were staying the night before catching the ferry, rather than dropping us off at the ferry terminal. Even though the tour was just under four hours, it was amazing how much we saw, and at the end we felt like we were saying goodbye to friends.

  • 5Great tour from a local!

We had a great afternoon with Trevor. He is a great guide and storyteller. We saw some unique sites and even had an unexpected flyby from the Red Arrows. Highly recommend this small group tour.

  • 5Enjoyable tour, fantastic people

We took two separate tours with Trevor, and would highly recommend him! The tour was informative, interesting, and enjoyable. The van is very comfortable, and we could hear Trevor clearly and easily through the van's speakers. Trevor and his wife Lori (who was our driver) are absolutely delightful people, and went out of their way to make our tour special. (In fact, when it was just us left in the van, after the others had been dropped off at the cruise port, our conversation inspired him to add another stop that he knew would interest us! He was absolutely right!) He kept us all entertained, and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend Tudno Tours to anyone staying in the area, or visiting for the day.

About Llandudno

Llandudno is a Victorian seaside resort on the North Wales coast, with a long pier, a sweeping bay and the limestone headland of the Great Orme.

Llandudno was laid out as a resort in the 1850s, and its seafront of grand hotels curves around a wide bay between the Great Orme and the Little Orme. The pier, more than half a kilometre long, reaches out into the sea, and broad streets of Victorian shops and arcades run back from the promenade.
