Experience the best of Cambridge
Cambridge is an English university city on the River Cam, famed for its ancient colleges, King's College Chapel and punts gliding along the Backs.

The university, founded in the early thirteenth century, still shapes the centre, with college courts, gatehouses and chapels opening off narrow streets. King's College Chapel, with its fan-vaulted ceiling and tall windows, is the best known, and Trinity's Great Court and the Bridge of Sighs at St John's are close behind. The Fitzwilliam Museum holds antiquities and paintings, and the market square has traded for centuries.
The Backs, a stretch of lawns and willows behind the colleges, runs along the river, where flat-bottomed punts glide beneath stone bridges, among them the Mathematical Bridge at Queens' College. Upstream, meadows lead to the village of Grantchester, and to the south the Imperial War Museum at Duxford shows aircraft on a historic airfield. Ely, with its great cathedral rising above the Fens, is about twenty-five kilometres to the north.
The Eagle, an old coaching inn, is where Crick and Watson are said to have announced that they had found the secret of life, and the pubs around the market keep a warm, bookish feel. Trinity burnt cream, a custard under a layer of caramelised sugar, is the college dessert. Punting is at its best from May to September, and blossom lines the river in spring.
