Experience the best of Bath
Bath, in the west of England, is a Georgian spa city of honey-coloured stone, built around natural hot springs first used by the Romans.

Bath's hot springs were first enclosed by the Romans, who built a temple and bathhouse complex here in the first century, now the Roman Baths museum beside Bath Abbey. In the eighteenth century the city rebuilt itself as a fashionable spa in pale local limestone, and the terraces and crescents designed by John Wood the Elder and the Younger, including the Circus and the Royal Crescent, give it its look. The whole city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops on both sides, crosses the River Avon at a weir, and Thermae Bath Spa has a rooftop pool filled by the natural springs. Jane Austen lived in the city for some years and set parts of two novels here. Prior Park Landscape Garden has a Palladian bridge, and the Cotswolds, Lacock, Wells and Cheddar Gorge are within a short drive.
Bath buns, sweet and studded with sugar, and Bath Oliver biscuits are both local inventions, and Somerset cider is poured in the city's old pubs. A cream tea in one of the Georgian tearooms is a ritual. The Christmas market fills the streets around the Abbey in December.
