As you travel through the quiet winter landscape, your guide will bring the region to life with stories about the mountains, wildlife, ecology, history, and unique winter environment of Banff National Park.
Arriving approximately 30 minutes before sunrise, you’ll have time to settle in and experience the peaceful beauty of Two Jack Lake before the first light reaches the surrounding mountains. To keep you comfortable in the winter cold, your guide will provide a warm beverage, blanket, heated portable chair, hand warmers, and headlamp. Ice cleats and hiking poles will also be available to help you move safely and comfortably on winter surfaces. Your guide will lead you to the best accessible viewpoint before the sky begins to glow. As the first light illuminates the Canadian Rockies, take your time photographing the changing colours, enjoying the scenery, or simply taking in the quiet of the early morning. You’ll have approximately one hour at Two Jack Lake, giving you plenty of time to experience the sunrise without spending too long outside in the winter cold.
From Two Jack Lake, continue through Banff National Park toward Johnston Canyon, one of the Canadian Rockies’ most spectacular winter destinations. You’ll have approximately two hours to explore Johnston Canyon at your own pace, following the trail through the forest and along its dramatic limestone walls. In winter, the waterfalls and canyon walls transform with ice formations and frozen cascades, creating a magical landscape unlike any other season. Take your time photographing the frozen waterfalls and enjoying the peaceful winter scenery before returning to the warmth of the vehicle.
After Johnston Canyon, relax as your guide drives you back toward Banff and Canmore, sharing recommendations for other memorable experiences and hidden gems to enjoy during your stay. As your adventure comes to an end, you’ll be returned to your original pickup location with memories of a Rocky Mountain sunrise, frozen waterfalls, and a beautiful winter morning in Banff National Park

About Banff
Banff is a small mountain town inside Canada's first national park, set among the Rocky Mountain peaks of Alberta with hot springs, lakes and wildlife.
The town of Banff sits in the Bow Valley at about 1,400 metres, with Mount Rundle's sloping ridge rising over the main street and Cascade Mountain at the other end. It began as a railway town beside hot springs, and the Cave and Basin National Historic Site marks the discovery that led to Canada's first national park. A gondola climbs Sulphur Mountain for views, and the Bow Falls and a château-style hotel add to the river scenery.
Top-ranked sights in Banff: Moraine Lake, Bow Falls, Lake Louise.
