With only about four hours of riding a day, you have real time to stop, swim and meet locals instead of rushing the loop in three. You'll ride the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass above the turquoise Nho Que River, climb the Lung Cu Flagpole at Vietnam's northernmost point, and swim beneath the hidden Du Gia waterfall. Three nights are spent in genuine H'mong and Tay homestays with home-cooked food and campfires. Ha Giang is a province on Vietnam's border with China, about 300 kilometres north of Hanoi, a landscape of limestone peaks, deep valleys, rice terraces and winding mountain roads. Ha Giang city, on the Lo River, is the base. The Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, a UNESCO Global Geopark, covers the northern districts, a rocky highland where farmers grow maize in pockets of soil among the stone.
