Experience the best of Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City, still widely called Saigon, is Vietnam's buzzing commercial hub of French colonial landmarks, war history and superb street food.

District 1 holds the main sights within walking distance: the red-brick Notre-Dame Cathedral, the elegant Central Post Office with its vaulted hall, the colonial Opera House and the ornate City Hall. The Independence Palace preserves its rooms as they were at the end of the war, and the War Remnants Museum tells the story of the conflict with sobering directness.
Ben Thanh Market is busy from morning to night, and pagodas such as the incense-filled Jade Emperor Pagoda and Thien Hau Temple in Cholon, the old Chinatown, offer moments of calm. Bui Vien Street turns into a loud, neon-lit nightlife strip, and rooftop bars look down on the scooter-filled boulevards. The Cu Chi Tunnels, a vast underground network used during the war, and the waterways of the Mekong Delta make easy day trips.
Street kitchens serve broken rice with grilled pork, banh mi baguettes, noodle salads, fresh spring rolls and strong iced coffee with condensed milk. The city is hot all year, with a dry season from about December to April, and in the days before Tet, the lunar new year, the streets bloom with flower markets and yellow apricot blossom.
