Highlights
Villages, viewpoints and volcanic rocks dot Gran Canaria's jagged spine. This tour weaves its way through some of the island's most dramatic landscapes, stopping to visit Teror, Tejeda and Fataga. David, one of our local guides, says, "The legend of the apparition of the Virgin Mary in Teror still intrigues me. It helped change the island's destiny." Your first stop is Teror, where you'll stroll past the balconied townhouses of Calle Real de la Plaza towards the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pine. Then it's on to Tejeda, with whitewashed houses scattered across a valley slope. David adds, "Every time there's a list of Spain's prettiest villages, Tejeda is near the top." From here, you'll continue to Las Tirajanas viewpoint for a photo stop. Next up is lunch in Fataga, in the Valley of a Thousand Palms. Afterwards, you'll have time to wander the village. Before returning to your hotel, you'll stop at an aloe vera plantation to learn about its medicinal properties and role in local life.

Itinerary
Teror is where your adventure begins. Strolling past the balconied townhouses of Calle Real de la Plaza towards the mountain-framed basilica of Our Lady of the Pine is one of the defining Gran Canaria experiences.
A scenic mountain drive away is Tejeda, which is a bit of a looker itself – red-roofed, whitewashed houses sprinkled on the slope of a valley. David adds, ‘Every time there's a list of Spain's prettiest villages, Tejeda is near the top. Its setting is unbeatable.'
After that we will continue to the Mirador de de las Tirajanas and have a photo stop. Roque Nublo and Roque Bentaiga views will be also available on the way from Tejeda to Fataga.
We will make our way to Fataga to eat. A lunch made from locally sourced ingredients will be served in a family-owned restaurant.
After a little amble through the town, we'll visit a nearby aloe vera plantation to get the lowdown on its medicinal properties. Generations of islanders have used extracts from the plant for skin burns.

About Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is a round volcanic island in the Atlantic, nicknamed a miniature continent for its dunes, ravines, pine forests and mountain peaks.
Gran Canaria rises from the Atlantic to a rim of peaks, and it has been called a continent in miniature because it holds desert dunes, green valleys and cool forests within a short distance. Las Palmas, on the north-east coast, is the island's capital, with the old quarter of Vegueta, its cathedral and the Casa de Colón, where Columbus is said to have stayed. Las Canteras beach runs for three kilometres along the city.
Top-ranked sights in Gran Canaria: Bandama Caldera (Caldera de Bandama), Roque Nublo, Vegueta.
