Highlights

Cardiff may be a young capital city, but it is a city steeped in history and culture. From the Romans to the Normans, from Tudor times to the Industrial Revolution and beyond, Cardiff has lived an eventful and full life despite its youth as a capital city. On this two-hour walking tour of central Cardiff we will discuss this journey of Cardiff from Roman outpost to the capital of Wales, which saw the city grow rapidly in size, population and wealth across the nineteenth century in particular. This tour takes in all of the major landmarks of the city centre, including Cardiff Castle, Bute Park, Cardiff Market, the Principality Stadium, and the spectacular Civic Centre. Discover not only the architecture and history of Cardiff, but the culture and characters of Wales too, from rugby, Welsh food and language, to the iconic figures who have made this country what it is today.

  • 5Fantastic way to experience Cardiff

If you want to experience Cardiff - Eugene is the guide you want! Guiding us through the city he showcased his knowledge in areas we would newer expect - in our case, our interest in a range from politics to football. Eugene is knowledgeable, professional and really good company at the same time - I give him my absolute best recommendations!

  • 5Excelent

Eugene was very good, friendly, open and very knowledgeable. He engaged with the group answering every question. Althought he said he is not Welsh himself, you can really tell that he feels the culture, language people. Thank you so much and the very success in future walking tours. • 5Great way to pass a morning in Cardiff

We went on the 11am walking tour on a Saturday morning with Eugene that covered all eras of the city and some bonus Welsh history added in. Plenty of facts and figures and dates and engaging stories about all our stops along the way. Highly recommended.

  • 5Excellent Tour

My daughter and I recently went to Cardiff on a city break and we booked the tour on line. It was excellent, Eugene gave us a lot of information on Cardiff as we strolled around at a nice pace. He met us promptly at the appointed time and he was very friendly and happy to answer any questions from the group. I highly recommend the tour.

About Cardiff

Cardiff is the capital of Wales, with a castle in the city centre, Victorian arcades, a waterfront bay and a rugby stadium in the heart of town.

Cardiff Castle stands in the middle of the city, with Roman walls, a Norman keep and a Victorian Gothic interior created for the Marquess of Bute. Bute Park, along the River Taff, runs from the castle walls to the city's edge, and the Principality Stadium, the home of Welsh rugby, towers over the centre. Victorian arcades hold independent shops, and the covered market sells Welsh cakes.

Top-ranked sights in Cardiff: Barry Island (Ynys y Barri), Cardiff Castle (Castell Caerdydd), Caerphilly Castle (Castell Caerffili).
