This shore excursion will start at the meeting point of your choice: at your accommodation or at the cruise terminal where the guide will be waiting for you with a sign. From there, we will explore Cadiz old town and it's beautiful corners. We will see the main monuments of Cadiz: The Santa Cruz Church and the Roman Theatre. We will wander around the two most important neighborhoods: the traditional Barrio del Pópulo and the charismatic Barrio de la Viña. We will discover the colorful Plaza de Topete (also known as Plaza de las Flores), and the Mercado Central, where locals gather for fresh produce, seafood, and lively chatter. We will finish the tour at the historic Caleta beach, where Phoenician, Carthaginian, and Roman ships anchored centuries ago.

About Cádiz

Cádiz is one of Europe's oldest cities, set on a narrow Atlantic peninsula in Andalusia, with white streets, a gold-domed cathedral and fried-fish bars.

Cádiz was founded by Phoenician traders about three thousand years ago as Gadir and still stands on a slim spit of land almost surrounded by the Atlantic. The old town is a grid of narrow lanes, plazas and watchtowers. The cathedral, with its golden dome, stands by the sea, the Torre Tavira holds a camera obscura that projects the city, and a Roman theatre was uncovered beneath the old quarter. A monument in Plaza de España commemorates the liberal constitution drafted here in 1812.

Top-ranked sights in Cádiz: La Caleta Beach, Genovés Park (Parque Genovés), El Pópulo.
