Itinerary
The moment your cruise ship docks, our friendly team will be there to welcome you just steps from the ship. You’ll then be guided to a modern, air-conditioned minibus, ensuring a smooth and comfortable start to your journey. Sit back, relax, and get ready to discover the rich history and vibrant culture of Athens.
As you depart from Piraeus Port, you’ll pass through Pasalimani, a charming harbor nestled in the heart of the city. Lined with sleek yachts and sailing boats, this lively marina offers a beautiful snapshot of the area’s strong maritime heritage.
As the journey continues, you’ll pass by Mikrolimano, a charming seaside harbor reminiscent of Pasalimani. If traffic allows, there may be a short photo stop, giving you the opportunity to capture beautiful views of the sea and surrounding city.
Next, you’ll pass by the Panathenaic Stadium, also known as Kallimarmaro, an impressive ancient structure rich in history. Once the venue of the Panathenaic Games, it reflects the spirit of ancient Greek athletic tradition and cultural pride. Today, it stands as one of Greece’s most iconic landmarks and a highlight for visitors from around the world.
As you continue your journey, you’ll pass the Arch of Hadrian, an impressive gateway that once marked the boundary between ancient Athens and the Roman city. Built to honor Emperor Hadrian, it beautifully reflects the blend of Greek and Roman influences. With its elegant design and historical importance, it remains one of the city’s most notable landmarks.
You’ll then pass by the impressive remains of the Temple of Olympian Zeus, once among the largest temples of the ancient world. Dedicated to Zeus, the king of the gods, its towering Corinthian columns—still standing today—offer a striking reminder of the scale and ambition of ancient Athens.
You’ll continue to Syntagma Square, the lively heart of Athens, located in front of the Hellenic Parliament and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This iconic square is a central meeting point of the city, rich in history and daily life. Enjoy some time here to take in the surroundings, watch the ceremonial guards, and experience the vibrant atmosphere of Athens.
For guests who choose to visit the Acropolis, your guide will accompany you to the entrance. From there, you’ll have time to explore this world-famous archaeological site at your own pace. At its center stands the Parthenon, an architectural masterpiece and enduring symbol of democracy—one of the most remarkable achievements of ancient Greece. Important Accessibility Information: Visiting the Acropolis requires a significant amount of walking, including approximately 75 steps at the entrance and uneven, often slippery marble pathways. It can be physically challenging, especially during the summer months when temperatures are high and crowds are heavy. Guests with limited mobility may prefer to stay with the guide and visit Areopagus and the Herodion instead.
This stop brings you to Monastiraki, a lively square full of character, known for its bustling markets, traditional shops, and energetic atmosphere. Take time to wander through its vibrant streets, browse handmade items and unique souvenirs, or simply soak in the local vibe. You can also enjoy authentic Greek flavors at nearby tavernas or relax with a coffee at one of the many welcoming cafés.
The tour concludes in Plaka, often referred to as the “Old Town,” where you’ll experience the charm and history of Athens up close. Nestled at the foot of the Acropolis, this picturesque neighborhood is filled with narrow streets, traditional architecture, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Stroll through its quaint alleys, browse shops offering handmade crafts and local finds, or relax at a cozy café or taverna with authentic Greek flavors. Whether you’re exploring or simply soaking in the surroundings, Plaka offers a relaxed and memorable ending to your Athens experience.
At the end of the tour, you will be comfortably returned to your cruise ship, bringing your Athens experience to a perfect close. If Athens is your final stop, you also have the option to remain in Monastiraki instead of returning to Piraeus Port. Feel free to ask your guide for helpful tips on getting to your hotel, the airport, or any onward destination, ensuring a smooth and easy continuation of your journey.

About Athens
Athens sets the Acropolis above a sprawling modern capital, where ancient ruins, hillside lanes and long taverna evenings sit side by side.
The Parthenon crowns the Acropolis, flanked by the Erechtheion and its porch of caryatids, and the Acropolis Museum at the foot of the hill displays sculpture found on the rock. Around it, the Ancient Agora, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian's Arch and the marble Panathenaic Stadium make the classical city easy to walk through.
