One of the most sought-after Northern experiences, a Yukon winter vacation is only complete with viewing the aurora borealis cascading across the Yukon night sky. A chemical light reaction caused when solar energy interacts with the Earth’s atmosphere, producing dramatic, dancing waves of green light from one horizon to another the Northern Lights have captivated viewers since the beginning of time, as evidence by the many Yukon First Nation legends they’ve inspired. 5Northern History
Fantastic Whitehorse city tour with Arctic Range Adventure! The tour was fun, informative, and a great way to discover the city. The multilingual service was a wonderful touch and made the experience easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend!
5Great experience. People are amazing, really worth it.
Due to the weather, we had a 0% chance of seeing the Northern Lights on our first night. Fortunately, our tour guide kindly helped us reschedule for another day. Even though we only saw a tiny bit of the Northern Lights, we still had a great time chatting with our guides and group members in the cute tent.
5Photography Tour
This was a memorable experience for anyone who loves photography and beautiful landscapes. We had plenty of opportunities to take photos, and our guide was helpful and knowledgeable. The sights and scenery along the Alaska Highway gave plenty of opportunities to capture unique light compositions.
1Northern Lights viewing in White Horse
White Horse seems to me very over -rated in viewing Northern lights . According to AI , the last time Northern lights were visible ( weak one ) was Sep 07 - we did the tour on Oct 01 The problem about the tour was that the operator was fully aware that northern lights viewing was very unlikely due to the weather ( cloudy ) and ( or ) low KP index ( less than 2) I understand you will need a min KP 3 index here in White Horse - but they are still conducting the tour - when we had a Northern Lights tour in Iceland , the operator did NOT confirm the tour until the late afternoon of the tour day They wanted to make sure chances were high to see the lights
5See the lights
Absolutely worth the late nights. Tour guides were wonderful and fun.
5Amazing tours with great guides
I love that the tours were well organized and the guides are very friendly and knowledgeable. I only had time for a weekend getaway - might do it again.

About Whitehorse
Whitehorse, capital of Yukon, stands on the Yukon River among forested hills, a gold-rush town with long summer days and northern lights in winter.
Whitehorse lies on the Yukon River in the south of the territory, beneath wooded ridges, and was a rest stop for prospectors on the way to the Klondike in 1898. Its name came from the rapids that once ran through Miles Canyon, said to look like the manes of white horses. The SS Klondike, a restored sternwheeler, rests on the riverbank as a reminder of the river-boat era.
Top-ranked sights in Whitehorse: Yukon Wildlife Preserve, Kluane National Park and Reserve, S.S. Klondike National Historic Site.
