  • 5Very enjoyable walking tour with our Guide Sam

I did the Best of Newcastle walking tour and really enjoyed it. Sam was our guide and she was excellent - friendly, enthusiastic and full of knowledge. Not being familiar with Newcastle it was a great way to get to know my way around and to learn some interesting facts about the city. It was a small group of 3 and Sam made sure we all felt welcome and answered any questions we had. A very enjoyable tour and I highly recommend it.

About Newcastle-upon-Tyne

Newcastle upon Tyne is a river city in north-east England, with a Norman castle keep, a row of bridges over the Tyne and a revived quayside.

Newcastle grew around a Roman bridge crossing and takes its name from the castle begun here in 1080 by Robert Curthose, son of William the Conqueror. The stone keep still stands above the railway, beside the Black Gate. The Tyne is crossed by the Swing Bridge, the High Level Bridge and the steel arch of the Tyne Bridge, and Grainger Town has classical streets of the 1830s with Grey's Monument at their heart.
