Experience the best of Tarifa
Tarifa is a walled white town at the southern tip of Spain, on the Strait of Gibraltar, known for wind, kitesurfing beaches and views of Morocco.

Tarifa stands at the southernmost point of mainland Spain and Europe, where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean in the Strait of Gibraltar, only about 14 km from Africa at the narrowest point. The old town is enclosed by Moorish walls and entered through the Puerta de Jerez, and the castle of Guzmán el Bueno, which began as a tenth-century Moorish fortress, overlooks the harbour.
The wind, the levante from the east and the poniente from the west, blows for much of the year and has made Tarifa a centre for kitesurfing and windsurfing on the long beaches of Playa de los Lances and Valdevaqueros. Boats go out to watch whales and dolphins in the strait. Along the coast, the Roman ruins of Baelo Claudia stand beside the dune and beach at Bolonia, and Tangier is across the water.
Bluefin tuna from the almadraba traps of Cádiz province, fresh grilled fish and small fried shrimp fritters are on every menu, with chilled fino sherry. Beef comes from the local retinto breed of cattle. The sea breeze cools the summer, while the levante can blow for days on end.
