Experience the best of Mumbai
Mumbai is India's restless, glamorous megacity on the Arabian Sea, a city of colonial landmarks, seaside promenades, film studios and street food.

The Gateway of India faces the harbour beside the grand Taj Mahal Palace hotel, and Colaba's streets fill with cafés and markets. The Gothic-revival Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Victorian and Art Deco buildings around the Oval Maidan show the city's architectural ambition.
Marine Drive curves along the bay, its lights earning it the name Queen's Necklace, and Chowpatty Beach is busy with snack stalls at sunset. The Haji Ali Dargah sits on an islet reached by a causeway, the open-air laundry of Dhobi Ghat is a remarkable sight, and boats cross to the rock-cut cave temples of Elephanta Island. Bandra's seafront and street art and the bustle of Crawford Market add more colour.
Mumbai's street food is legendary: vada pav, pav bhaji, bhel puri and seafood from the coast. The city is also the home of the Hindi film industry. October to March is the most pleasant time, the early summer is hot and humid, and the monsoon from June to September brings heavy rain. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival fills the streets with processions.
