Experience the best of Menorca
Menorca is the quieter Balearic island, with coves of clear water, prehistoric stone monuments, two old harbour towns and a coastal path all round.

Menorca is the second largest of the Balearic Islands, a low, green island and a UNESCO biosphere reserve, where stone walls divide the fields and white farmhouses stand in the countryside. The capital, Maó, overlooks one of the longest natural harbours in the Mediterranean, and its Georgian-style houses recall British rule in the eighteenth century. Ciutadella, the old capital on the west coast, has a Gothic cathedral, a small harbour and palaces around the Plaça des Born.
Menorca has hundreds of prehistoric monuments, including the talayots, towers of stone, and the navetas, boat-shaped tombs, among them the Naveta d'es Tudons. The coast is lined with coves of white sand and turquoise water, such as Cala Macarella and Cala Turqueta in the south, and the Camí de Cavalls, an old bridleway, circles the island for around 185 kilometres. Monte Toro, its highest point, gives a view of the whole island.
Mahón cheese, Menorcan gin, made with juniper in Maó and a legacy of the British navy, and caldereta de langosta, a lobster stew from Fornells, are the island's signatures. Pomada, gin with lemonade, is drunk at the June festival of Sant Joan in Ciutadella, when riders on horseback parade through the town. The north wind blows in winter, and summer is the beach season.
