Experience the best of Devon

Devon reaches from the English Channel in the south to the Bristol Channel in the north. The cathedral city of Exeter stands at its heart, and from there the land rises to Dartmoor, a national park of granite tors, wild ponies and ancient stone rows, and to the high cliffs and heather of Exmoor in the north.

On the south coast, the English Riviera around Torquay and Brixham has palm-lined promenades and a working fishing harbour, and the Dart estuary runs up to Dartmouth, home of the naval college, and to Greenway, Agatha Christie's holiday house. East Devon's red cliffs form part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, while the north coast has the surf of Woolacombe and the steep fishing village of Clovelly.

A Devon cream tea puts clotted cream on a split scone and tops it with jam, and the county also produces cider, pasties, crab from Salcombe and fish landed at Brixham. The villages look best in the green months of late spring and summer, and the moors turn purple with heather in late summer.
