Experience the best of Brunswick Heads

Brunswick Heads sits at the mouth of the Brunswick River on the far north coast of New South Wales, a short distance north of Byron Bay and south of the Queensland border. Fishing boats and pelicans share the river, lawns run down to the water, and a small main street of cafés, bakeries and old pubs faces the foreshore.

A long ocean beach with dunes lies on one side of the village, and a sheltered river beach suits families on the other. Nature reserves of paperbark swamp and coastal heath surround the town, and the hills inland hold Mullumbimby and the green farmland of the Brunswick Valley. Byron Bay and the Cape Byron lighthouse are a short drive south.

Café breakfasts, local prawns and fish and chips eaten beside the river fill the village's days. Humpback whales pass close to the coast on their winter and spring migrations, and the warm, humid summers bring most of the swimmers.
