• 5Two surfers one instructor (Luke)

  My friend and I had a great experience surfing with Luke! We’re semi-beginners, and although the weather conditions weren’t ideal, he was incredibly patient, encouraging, and helpful throughout the lesson. He made us feel comfortable in the water and helped us make the most of the conditions. Beyond being a great surf instructor, Luke also knows a lot about surfing and the world around it, which made the experience even more interesting. He was super friendly, passionate, and happy to share his knowledge.

• 5Great way to improve your technique for beginners /intermediates!

  Luke was an absolute gem. He ensured we went to the best surf spot (given the weather conditions). He helped us improve our technique and his enthusiasm was absolutely contagious. Would definitely recommend! (A couple of months ago, I was in Byron as well and took some surf classes at another surfschool. The instructor was blunt and told us we all sucked…(?!) It was so demotivating I didnt surf for a while. Thanks to Luke, I got my motivation back! Fair to say, Soul Surfing was way better.)

• 5Great family experience

  We were a family of four with two daughters (14 & 8) and had a fantastic time. Staff were friendly, our guide Ronja was wonderful and patient with our girls. Great family memories made and now we feel confident to continue surfing on the future!

• 5The best few days

  I signed up for the four day (2 hours a day course), I had one day with Benny, two days with Simon and my final day with Jonny. I had such a fantastic time overall, all the surf instructors were knowledgeable and personable. Simon took a group of us out to deeper waters with bigger waves and I have not and will not stop talking about, the absolute best experience!!! Can’t wait to go surfing again. 🏄‍♀️🤙

• 5I LOVE SOUL SURF SCHOOL!

  I cannot recommend Soul Surf School enough!! I went with two of my girl friends and we booked 2hr lessons for two days. Our instructor was Johnny both days and he was AWESOME!! On the first day were in a group of six, all of whom had never surfed before. This was a great size to learn in because we kept rotating to ensure everyone got little breaks when needed but also got the most out of the two hour lesson. When we arrived to the beach, we did a quick warm up, practiced a few times on the sand, and immediately went into the ocean. While I was intimidated to just get up and try, Johnny was great with corrections and advice to make each attempt better. On the second day, not only did he remember our names from the prior day, he also remembered what to work on and we immediately saw the difference. After just two lessons, I was able to successfully surf some waves completely on my own! I am so so happy that I did Soul Surf School and am so grateful for Johnny and the rest of the staff for being so kind, welcoming, and helpful!

About Byron Bay

Byron Bay is a relaxed coastal town in northern New South Wales, with surf beaches, a historic lighthouse and the easternmost point of mainland Australia.

Cape Byron, the easternmost point of mainland Australia, has a white lighthouse from 1901 and a walking track around the headland, where dolphins swim below and humpback whales pass offshore on their winter and spring migrations. The town has a long, gently curving beach, with surfers at The Pass and quieter sand at Wategos. Offshore, the Julian Rocks marine reserve draws divers to see turtles, rays and, in season, sharks.
