Experience the best of Surfers Paradise
Surfers Paradise is the high-rise heart of Queensland's Gold Coast, a long surf beach backed by towers, cafés and rainforest hills.

A broad stretch of golden sand runs beside the towers of Surfers Paradise, with flags marking the patrolled swimming areas and pedestrian streets such as Cavill Avenue leading back from the shore. The area took the name Surfers Paradise in 1933, and a small seaside holiday spot has grown into the centre of the Gold Coast. The calm channels of the Broadwater lie behind the skyline.
Behind the coast, the land rises into green ranges. Lamington and Springbrook national parks hold subtropical rainforest, waterfalls and walking tracks, and both belong to the Gondwana Rainforests World Heritage area. Tamborine Mountain has small villages and lookouts. Along the coast, Burleigh Heads and Coolangatta have more relaxed surf beaches, and the theme parks of the northern Gold Coast are a short drive from the high-rises.
Prawns, Moreton Bay bugs and barramundi suit the beachfront menus, and brunch cafés serve flat whites and smashed avocado to a crowd fresh from the surf. Summers are hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms, and between June and November humpback whales pass offshore on their migration.
