Experience the best of Algonquin Provincial Park

Algonquin Provincial Park lies on the Canadian Shield in central Ontario, between Georgian Bay and the Ottawa River, a rolling land of more than 2,000 lakes, rivers, bogs and forest of maple, birch and pine. Created in 1893, it is the oldest provincial park in Ontario and covers about 7,600 square kilometres.

Highway 60 crosses the southern part of the park and gives access to trails, lookouts, a logging museum and campsites, while the interior is reached on foot or by canoe, along hundreds of kilometres of canoe routes and portages. Moose, black bears, beavers, wolves and loons live here, and the painter Tom Thomson found many of his subjects on these lakes.

Maple syrup from the surrounding forests, fresh blueberries and lake trout are the flavours of the region, with towns such as Huntsville and Whitney on the edges of the park. In autumn the maples colour the hills red and orange.
