  • 5Very informative introduction

Our guide was very good, extremely knowledgeable and entertaining on the bus ride, a very accommodating as we struggled with an unexpected shutdown of the London Underground. Everyone was very helpful. Windsor Castle is amazing. We could definitely spend a whole day there or more but this was a very good introduction.

  • 5Great tour!

Our guide was Sam and while he wasn’t able to be with us in Windsor Castle he did a lot of work on the bus giving us a history of England and educating us on what we’d be seeing. The bus was very comfortable and the castle itself was beautiful. We also went into St George’s Chapel which I would recommend too.

  • 4Windsor Castle Half Day tour

We enjoyed seeing Windsor Castle and learning some history. The state rooms and St. George's Chapel were magnificent! We were a bit overwhelmed. We were lucky enough to see the changing of the guard as well. There was quite a long line to see Queen Mary's Dollhouse but it was well worth it. Because of the lines we had no extra time to see the town as we would have liked. Our guide gave a lot of good history on the bus but in such a theatrical way, it was a bit hard to hear. She was very knowledge though. Be aware that the guide gets you into the Castle and then you are on your own. Not a bad thing, just be aware.

A highly recommended half-day tour, though an extra hour would have been nice to have more time to explore around the castle. The comfortable coach ride between London and Windsor was made even better by Rania, our guide. Visiting on a Thursday morning also meant we got to catch the Changing of the Guard!

  • 4Windsor Castle Half Day trip from London, Sep-2026

We toured Windsor Castle from London via coach in mid-September. The bus arrived on time and was comfortable. The leader in the bus gave us some information during the drive, and upon arrival re-iterated many times the departure time; there would be no waiting for stragglers. We had to line up to get into the castle, but it wasn't too long. The self guided tour came with a player & headphones; it was fairly easy to navigate the touch screen once you got the hang of it. Pictures are not allowed inside. The castle and grounds are HUGE, and there are no maps or literature provided to help determine options on what to see - a map would have been nice, even on plaques on the grounds. It would take a whole day or more to leisurely see everything. I found that the pathways were not entirely well marked, resulting in confusion over where to go next, and extra time spent wandering. Since there was so much to see and learn, we had to skip some of the content in order to meet our timeline for departure. What we did see was very interesting, it was great to image walking where the Royals walk, and being in some of the rooms where Royalty has resided.

  • 5Windsor Castle Self Guided Tour

Guide was good at getting us to and in the venue but are not allowed to go around with you. Self guided tour head phones were provided by the venue which were very helpful.

About Windsor & Eton

Windsor and Eton face each other across the Thames west of London, one with a great royal castle and the other with a famous school.

Windsor Castle stands on a chalk ridge above the Thames and has been a royal residence for nearly a thousand years, making it the largest inhabited castle in the world. St George's Chapel, inside its walls, is a late-Gothic church with a fan-vaulted roof, the burial place of many monarchs and the setting for royal weddings. The Long Walk, a straight avenue of more than four kilometres, leads south from the castle into Windsor Great Park.
