About Dharamsala
Dharamsala is a Himalayan hill town in Himachal Pradesh beneath the snowy Dhauladhar range, home to the Dalai Lama and a large Tibetan community.
Dharamsala climbs a forested spur of the Dhauladhar range in the Kangra valley of Himachal Pradesh. The upper town, McLeod Ganj, has been the base of the Tibetan exile community and the Dalai Lama since 1960. Its Tsuglagkhang temple complex stands near a Tibetan museum, prayer flags flutter along the lanes, and monks in maroon robes walk between monasteries, shops and cafés.
