  • 5Don't miss this!

A site not to miss. It's so close to Paris, we opted to use the RER train which dropped us off right next to the check-in spot. The guided tour through the palace lasted almost 2 hours and was well worth the cost. Our guide was informative and kept a steady pace that allowed us to stop and view each room while keeping on track. She shared very interesting and informative details in each room. With access to the palace, gardens, and petit Trianon, we ended up spending the entire day wandering the grounds. With restaurants, bikes, row boats, and golf carts near the palace and in the gardens, you don't feel rushed to leave. After walking from the palace to the Petit Trianon and on to the gardener's mansion and Grand Trianon (~3+ miles), we opted for a ride back to the palace, but weren't ready to leave yet, so we rented a golf cart and continued to explore the vast gardens. Would highly recommend this tour

  • 5A must-see

A must see if you're in Paris. The tour was informative and the guide kept a great pace to keep us on track as we went through the various rooms. Once the tour is over, you still have access to go back through the rooms if you wanted to look again and also have access to the gardens and Petit Trianon for self-paced wandering. I thought the amount of time with the guide was perfect. Taking a longer guided tour would have been information overload!

About Versailles

Versailles, west of Paris, is the town built around the palace of Louis XIV, with its Hall of Mirrors and formal gardens.

The Palace of Versailles began as a hunting lodge of Louis XIII, and Louis XIV turned it into the seat of royal power, moving the court here in 1682. Its centrepiece is the Hall of Mirrors, seventy-three metres long, with seventeen mirrored arches facing the garden windows, where the Treaty of Versailles was signed in June 1919. The royal apartments, the Opera and the Chapel complete the palace.
