5Amazing
Fantastic day! Maria our tour guide was great with information along the way. Since there was little traffic she gave us an extra stop at a village for a break
5Amazing experience
What an experience, the guide was amazing .100% recommend
5Great tour of the cave and the lake!
Excellent experience with Eva this afternoon. Both the cave and the lake was wonderful. And it included a lot of extras on the way. We had a great time!
4Avalon A+ Melissani Lake E for Effort!
Firstly, Avalon Travel were excellent. Pick up/drop off brilliant and Kristina our guide (and another lady on the coach but didn't get her name) were excellent, very informative and interesting with lots of wonderful knowledge. Drogarati caves thankfully were fairly quiet and it is a magnificent site, the steps (about 130) are hard work. Some of the floor can be slippery in the cave so take care. Melissani Lake was a massive disappointment. Yes its beautiful with a small amount of turquoise water but we were barely on the row boat for 10 minutes, with a very uninterested rower who didn't say much and looked like he couldn't be bothered. That was very underwhelming. Stopping to look at Myrtos Beach on the way back was brilliant to see, and had wonderful views and could even make out Corfu in the distance. All round excellent from Avalon but the attraction of Melissani lakes a huge disappointment, in our opinion.
5Visit after midday
This was an unforgettable experience. What a true wonder these places are. Unfortunately if you have severe mobility issues then this will be very difficult for you as there are 129 steps into the dragorati caves and it is very steep with a tight staircase. The messalani lake is a bit easier with a flat walkway down to the boat but steep on the way back. We booked as part of our excursion trip however it gets very busy especially when a cruise ship docks. I would recommend coming after midday if there is a queue have a coffee first and then go down. There is a nice cafe with toilets. We are lucky enough to be able to avoid peak season and we arrived at about 1215 and went straight in.
4Drogarati and Melissani Caves
A very interesting experience! Tour bus was a nice coach with comfortable seats, AC and decent leg room. Drogarati Cave was very interesting natural formation!! Not something you get to see everyday. Melissani lake was a cool experience with the open top and boat ride. Tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable sharing lots of information of the island and its history. The only negative was a lot of time on the bus. Approximately 2-2.5 hours of the 4 hour tour. I would not recommend the caves to anyone with mobility issues. Drogarati has a very long and quite slippery in spots stair case. Melissani have a fairly long sloping tunnel down to the boats and while it is not slippery could be difficult for some.

About Cephalonia
Cephalonia is the largest of the Ionian islands, a mountainous Greek island of white pebble beaches, caves, vineyards and the fir forests of Mount Ainos.
Cephalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands, off Greece's west coast, a rugged island of limestone mountains, deep bays and olive groves. A strong earthquake in 1953 levelled most of its towns, and many were rebuilt in a plainer style; Fiskardo, in the north, was spared and keeps its Venetian-style houses around a small harbour. Argostoli, the capital, has a long waterfront and a stone causeway bridge across its lagoon.
Top-ranked sights in Cephalonia: Myrtos Beach (Paralía Mirtos).
