  • 3Spectacular Views and Privacy

The location of Nafplio Palace is unsurpassed with its hilltop historic location which offers the best views and privacy in the area. The staff was exceptionally accommodating and friendly. The restaurant offered a wonderful buffet breakfast and dinner offered many delightful and delicious menu options. We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite - which was very nice!! We appreciate the gesture! The price we paid for our original booking was for a suite with a private pool with a view. For the price, we were expecting a truely luxury experience and didn’t mind paying a premium. The facility is clean, but very dated. At its peak it is clear it was state of the art. It is well-maintained but in original condition. The room was well-equipped but severely outdated. (Multiple light switches for an expansive lighting design, of which many didn’t work nor were labeled (which made it a little frustrating), walk-in shower appeared luxurious but so dim you could barely see, and the soaking tub had no hot water The private pool was not very clean.) There is so much potential here for a hospitality company to come in and update the facility to make this truly a spectacular experience - the proximity to town and the views are second to none. However, in it’s current condition it felt like we were in a time capsule 40+ years or more ago. Greece is general has a lot of wandering cats/kittens. The smell of cat urine around the facility, especially on the back patio next to the pool and sparse gardens was a little overwhelming - not sure how they rectify this, but it was unpleasant. If we return to Nafplio, there are several small boutique luxury hotels in town that looked fresh and quite nice, especially for the price. I give this hotel a 3 star at best.

  • 5Was very informative, and logistically it was a breeze. Definitely recommend!

Truly a great experience! We learned so much from our guide in the transfers that we felt prepped to go into the sites on our own.

  • 5Spectacular ruins

Both locations were better than we could imagine. Be sure to take the time to go through both museums. The theatre was definitely a highlight for us..

  • 5Beautiful ruins

Had a wonderful driver, Nico(?) not sure of spelling. He was on time, professional and friendly. He told us about the area and made us feel very comfortable and welcomed on our first trip to Greece.

  • 5Great Excursion

Seeing all the statues that they found. The theater in Epidaurus is also the most well maintained that we've seen in all of Greece. It was amazing.

About Nafplio

Nafplio is a seaside town in the Peloponnese, once the first capital of modern Greece, with Venetian lanes, a harbour fortress and a hilltop castle.

Nafplio sits on the Argolic Gulf in the north-eastern Peloponnese, a town of neoclassical mansions, Venetian houses and flower-hung balconies climbing from the waterfront. It was the first capital of modern Greece, from 1823 to 1834. The Bourtzi, a small castle on an islet, guards the harbour, and Palamidi, a Venetian fortress on a rock above the town, is reached by a long staircase or by road.
