The Lighthouse was built in 1892 by a French trading company and it is considered a very important site, as it is one of the first lighthouses that were manufactured in Greece. This scenic Lighthouse is situated in the lovely and tranquil village of Akrotiri, on the edge of a high cliff right above the sea. It is 5 kilometers away from the center of the village.Today, it is still operational as it emits a bright white light over the sea every 10 seconds and still contributes to the protection of the traveling boats. Although entrance is not allowed to public, the area around will secure you amazing photos and views!

About Santorini
Santorini is a crescent of volcanic cliffs in the Aegean, where whitewashed villages and blue domes look over a flooded caldera to famous sunsets.
The island is the rim of an ancient volcano whose eruption left a vast caldera filled by the sea. On its edge, Fira, the main town, and the clifftop villages of Imerovigli and Firostefani cling to the slopes, while Oia, at the northern tip, is celebrated for its sunset views over windmills and whitewashed houses.
Top-ranked sights in Santorini: Red Beach, White Beach, Santorini Volcano.
