This town is also referred to as Pink city for the colour of buildings in its wonderful old city. The city was painted pink to honour the visit of Prince Albert of England in 1882. The unique history & great monuments have made Jaipur as one of the most amazingly-designed cities in the world.
Start your tour by visiting Amber Fort, which is one of the most magnificent Monuments of Jaipur. Sitting on the rugged hills outside of town the Amer (Amber) Fort is an example of the fascinating blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture made from red sandstone and white marble. The highlight of the fort is the Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), a palace known for its craftsmanship in mirrors. Fort served as the main residence of the Rajput Rulers with its large ramparts, several gateways and paved paths used to serve as the capital of the erstwhile Jaipur princely state.
Next, you will photostop at Jal Mahal, known as "Water Palace" an architectural beauty seems as it is floating prettily right in the centre of the Man Sagar Lake. This low rise symmetrical Palace was once a shooting lodge for the Maharajas. The most striking feature of this palace is that while only one storey that appears above the water level, there are 4 storeys submerged underneath. The entry inside is prohibited but it still has become a true tourist delight.

Next visit, Jantar Mantar which is an astronomical observatory used to measure the distances and positions of celestial objects. India has a total of five such observatories the largest of which is in Jaipur. The Jantar Mantar in Jaipur consists of 19 large instruments each serving a very specific purpose. The most significant among these is the Samrat Yantra which is the largest sundial in the country. the stone observatory attracted by the mathematician as well as astronomers of the world
Finally visit Hawa Mahal, (The palace of breeze) The honeycomb-shaped and beautifully carved 953 windows allow the breeze to blow through the palace and makes it a perfect summer palace. The construction of Hawa Mahal allowed the royal ladies to enjoy everyday street scenes, festivities or royal processions on the street without being seen as Purdah system at the time was strictly followed. Rajput royal ladies should not be seen by strangers or appear in any public area.

About Jaipur
Jaipur, the Pink City of Rajasthan, is a royal capital of forts, palaces and bazaars set against the rugged Aravalli hills.
The old city's walls enclose a grid of streets painted terracotta pink, laid out in the eighteenth century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. At its heart, the City Palace mixes Rajput and Mughal styles, the honeycomb façade of the Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds, looks down on the street, and the giant astronomical instruments of Jantar Mantar still track the sun.
Top-ranked sights in Jaipur: Palace of Wind (Hawa Mahal), City Palace, Jal Mahal (Water Palace).
