  • 2I do not recommend

Unfortunately this tour was a miss for me and my husband. It was very rushed with limited information from the guide. I feel like we were rushed through the sites so that we could get to the grand Bazaar where we were taken to the guide’s friends stalls to purchase items. Our guide in Cappadocia and Ephasus were beyond fantastic, but this one was a fail.

  • 5The Perfect Way to Experience Istanbul

We originally planned to do a group tour, but with only two full days in Istanbul, we decided at the last minute that a private tour would allow us to see and learn much more. We were so glad we made that decision—and we were incredibly lucky to have Fettah as our guide! Fettah met us right at our hotel, and we began our day at the Hippodrome before continuing to the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace, Hagia Sophia, and the Basilica Cistern. It was a full day with a lot of walking, but absolutely worth it. One of the things we appreciated most was having Fettah all to ourselves. Throughout the day, we passed huge groups of 20–30 people following guides holding umbrellas or flags, and it made us appreciate our private tour even more. We could ask questions whenever we wanted, spend more time on the things that interested us, and move through the day at a pace that worked for us. Fettah was incredibly knowledgeable—it honestly felt like having our own personal history teacher walking through Istanbul with us. Every question we asked, he had a detailed answer for, and his knowledge of the history, culture, architecture, and significance of everything we were seeing was impressive. He didn't just give us memorized facts; he explained things in a way that helped us understand how everything connected. He was also extremely personable and educated, which made spending the entire day with him genuinely enjoyable. I felt like we learned so much more because of the one-on-one experience. For lunch, Fettah gave us three different restaurant options and let us choose what sounded best to us. We enjoyed a wonderful traditional Turkish lunch with kebabs and, of course, baklava for dessert. It was a perfect break in the middle of our sightseeing day. By the end of the tour, we had walked a lot and seen so much, but we never felt like we were simply being rushed from one attraction to another. The flexibility, personal attention, and ability to ask as many questions as we wanted made such a difference. If you only have a limited amount of time in Istanbul, I highly recommend doing a private tour. It allowed us to make the most of our time while still enjoying the experience instead of feeling like we were being herded through the city in a large group. We had a wonderful day and are so grateful to Fettah for making our time in Istanbul both memorable and educational. He truly made the history of the city come alive for us!

  • 5One Day in Istanbul

I had a terrific time with Savas. His knowledge of the history of Istanbul and religion is unsurpassed. Savas met me at my hotel and accompanied back. He helped me decide on the "must sees" since I only had one day and he expedited my entrances. Savas also assisted me with shopping and finding a place for lunch. I had a great day!

  • 5Amazing tour of top sights with knowledgeable and friendly guide

This is my second time doing this tour and I would 100% recommend. You get to see all the major historical sights in one day plus support with navigating the spice market and Grand Bazaar with a local. Our guide, Sam, was incredibly friendly, spoke perfect English and was so intelligent with history of Istanbul. I felt like I took a college class by the end of the day! Loved it! Plus, you get to skip the long lines and enter with your guide, which saved us at least 2-3 hours.

  • 5Personalized Private Tour!

This truly is a customized private tour! Sabit went above and beyond our expectations. He was kind, funny, and extremely knowledgeable about the history and legends of the places we visited. In addition, he treated both of our religions with respect as we asked each other questions about our faith journeys. After visiting the mosque, we reevaluated our options and chose to go see how they extract the silk threads from the silk cocoons, spin it and then hand-tie it into carpets. After buying a carpet for our entryway, we ate a delicious lunch. Sabit took us to a spice and tea store before going into the Grand Bazaar. What a great day! Your day won’t look like ours because Sabit really does tailor the day according to your interests and needs. He is a 5-star guide!

About Istanbul

Istanbul straddles Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus, with Byzantine and Ottoman monuments, busy bazaars and ferries crossing between continents.

The historic peninsula holds the greatest landmarks. Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Hippodrome face each other in Sultanahmet, the Basilica Cistern lies beneath the streets, and Topkapı Palace spreads across the hill above the Golden Horn. A short walk away, the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar have traded for centuries, and Süleymaniye Mosque, built by the great Ottoman architect Sinan, crowns one of the city's seven hills.

Top-ranked sights in Istanbul: Dolmabahce Palace (Dolmabahce Sarayi), Bosphorus, Bosphorus Bridge (Bogazici Koprusu).
