Itinerary

  1. Imbros Gorge is with the length of 8 km the second longest gorge on our island. It runs almost parallel to the gorge of Samaria. Although not as well-known as the famous Samaria Gorge, it is a real natural beauty, especially interesting because of its amazing lush vegetation. Many Cretan endemic plants and flowers are at home there. It requires the most hikers approximately 3 hours of a relative easy walk. You need comfortable strong shoes or trainers. Afterwards our bus will takes us to Frangokastello or to Chora Sfakion where we can swim or enjoy a meal at the local taverns.

About Chania

Chania, on Crete's north-west coast, is a Venetian harbour town of old mosques and tall houses, with mountain gorges and beaches within reach.

Chania's old harbour is a crescent of tall Venetian houses facing a stone breakwater and a lighthouse rebuilt by the Egyptians in the nineteenth century. The domed Mosque of the Janissaries stands on the quay, left from the Ottoman centuries, and behind it narrow lanes in the Splantzia and Topanas quarters pass Venetian and Ottoman houses, churches and small workshops. The cross-shaped covered market sells cheese, honey and herbs.

Top-ranked sights in Chania: Marathi Beach, Venetian Lighthouse, Venetian Harbor.
