5Half day round Oban
We explored a castle and a Kirk, saw all of Oban from the highest point, and looked across Loch Awe to see Kilchurn Castle. Really loved all of it.
5Oban Tour
Gary, our tour guide was fabulous. Very knowledgeable about historical locations and local history. Nice clean comfortable van with lots of room. Highly recommend.
4Oban Sightseeing With Gus
Guide ‘Gus’ was great. Friendly, professional, full of stories and has lived in Oban for 25+ years, so knows his way around. Group of 8 in a small 8-person van, so be aware the seating is tight - and snag the two seats at the front, beside Gus if you can. Getting in & out can be a bit tricky. Good view of the countryside outside Oban but of course, weather plays a factor on the whole experience - we had rain. Fortunately, Gus our Guide/Driver had a great attitude and kept things moving along.
5Really good little trip!
Excellent experience. Gus was very accommodating and listened to us and we learnt a lot. While it was mildly disappointing that the hielan’ coos were away off in the distance the Hebridean sheep and other animals made up for it. The special treat at the lunch of awesome fresh seafood was excellent. Felt overall it was really worth it and could not give it less than a 5 star review. Thank you Gus!
5Warm tour despite cold weather
Campbell was a fantastic guide. He explained the history of the area in a fun, relatable way and took us to see some really great sites in Oban. He also more generally was a warm, hospitable tour guide who we enjoyed so much that we asked him to drive us to Edinburgh for our flight the next day. Would highly recommend Campbell Cameron as a tour guide in Oban
1Don’t waste your money!
Just wanted to let everyone who was thinking about booking the Historical Tour and Seafood Experience to not bother. The driver was more interested in hearing his own voice and his idea of a historical tour of Oban was taking us through his life story of where he lived, his go cart escapades as a kid and his other experiences. No Highland Cow sightings either. There were basically no photo opportunities given to us and the Seafood Experience was a hut selling fish and chips. Very disappointing. Furthermore the Tartan Tour Company representative, Charles Henry didn't really care.

About Oban
Oban is a harbour town on Scotland's west coast, the gateway to the Hebrides, with a hilltop folly, a whisky distillery and fresh seafood.
Oban curves around a sheltered bay on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands, protected by the island of Kerrera, and is the main ferry port for the Inner and Outer Hebrides. McCaig's Tower, a circular granite folly that looks like a Roman Colosseum, stands on the hill above the town, begun in 1897 and never finished, and the Oban Distillery, founded in 1794, sits behind the harbour front.
Top-ranked sights in Oban: Glencoe (Glen Coe), Kilchurn Castle, Inveraray Castle.
