Highlights

This private tour to this UNESCO Heritage and Wildlife Reserve is a perfect opportunity to discover some amazing Scottish countryside along the way and see a beautiful gorge dotted with waterfalls. It is a natural beauty but a historical sight in the same time, where on arrival, you'll see some traditional stone buildings in the most tranquil environment. Then we'll go on a woodland walk alongside this majestic river, parts of it being very calm and serene and some areas loud with the gushing water falling off the cliffs. We will find some perfect lookouts where you can take some amazing photos and enjoy the sound of the water combined with the chirping birds. If we are lucky, we might even see some lovely badgers enjoying a lazy afternoon.

Itinerary

  1. We'll take you to this amazing place of a gorge of the River Clyde, where waterfalls come after waterfalls and even when you think you have seen it all, there's more. There are even beautiful historic buildings around, including a small museum which you can take a look at free of charge. The Falls of Clyde is a Wildlife Reserve, an UNESCO World Heritage Site in Scotland with breathtaking scenery, a beautiful woodland walk, where you can hear birds chirping from everywhere and if we are lucky enough we'll see some badgers or even otters enjoying the surroundings just like you or me. There are over a 100 species of birds who live here, including dippers, ravens and kingfishers. The woodland walk does need good guidance throughout which takes you alongside the gorge and we can even take you to the other side of the river, which is less known and gives you a better view of some of the waterfalls. Some parts of the walk take more guidance than others, as you might end up taking longer on the hike if you don't know the place as much as the locals. Plenty of lookouts where you can stop and take photos and take lovely memories with you or if you get a bit tired, we can definitely takes some breaks, so you can catch your breath. This is quite a long hike/walk, about 3 hours, so you'll get lots of exercise, but is relatively easy, no climbing involved and perfect for any age group, specially a day out with the kids.

About Glasgow

Glasgow is Scotland's largest city, a Victorian port on the Clyde with galleries, live music and red-sandstone terraces, and Loch Lomond close by.

Glasgow grew on the River Clyde through shipbuilding, tobacco and trade, and its Victorian wealth shows in the red sandstone of its terraces, museums and merchant halls. The medieval cathedral, which survived the Reformation intact, stands beside the Necropolis, a hill of Victorian tombs. The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, a red-stone palace, holds Salvador Dalí's Christ of St John of the Cross and a Spitfire hanging in its hall.

Top-ranked sights in Glasgow: Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, Glasgow Cathedral, George Square.
