  • 5Cacao and chocolate heaven

Ms Hien showed us around the cacao plantation and explained in detail how cacao was harvested and made into chocolates. We then had a taste of different binon chocolates. The bbq lunch was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

  • 5Getting the full bean to bar experience

Interestingly, since Binon Cacao Park is normally closed on Mondays, our fam tour group post-ITE HCMC 2025 got only the half-day tour and chocolate-making experience - BUT WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! As a life-long chocoholic, sometime baker, and former chocolatier, it's an experience I definitely recommend to chocoholics from anywhere in the world as it literally guides you throughout the process of development from the farm to the tempering table, so to speak. What I love is that you actually get to see the cacao trees (which, at the time we were there, were bearing pods) and, if you volunteer for the demonstration, get to cut a pod off straight from the tree. If you're lucky, you get to have picked a beautifully ripe one and the taste of fresh cacao pulp is most refreshing against southern Vietnam's steamy humidity. The hands on chocolate making experience likewise enables you to craft your own confections. In my case, I got the mendiant kit and 65% chocolate to pipe into the moulds. Be sure to bring the flavours of the experience home through the various treats sold at the gift shop; no regrets.

  • 5chocolate-making workshop

I had a truly memorable visit to Binon Cacao Park. This place is not only beautiful and peaceful, but also offers a unique and educational experience about cacao – from tree to chocolate. The tour was very well organized, and the staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about what they do. One of the highlights was the hands-on chocolate-making workshop, where I got to craft my own chocolate bar and learn about the traditional bean-to-bar process. The park itself is lush and green, with cacao trees everywhere, making it a great spot for both relaxation and learning. I highly recommend this experience to families, couples, or anyone looking for something different and meaningful while traveling in Vietnam. It’s a perfect blend of nature, culture, and flavor!

About Vung Tau

Vung Tau is a seaside city on a peninsula in southern Vietnam, a weekend retreat for Ho Chi Minh City with beaches, a hilltop Christ statue and seafood.

Vung Tau occupies a peninsula on the South China Sea in the south of Vietnam, south-east of Ho Chi Minh City, with two small mountains rising from the coast. Under the French it was called Cap Saint-Jacques, and it still has colonial buildings such as the White Palace, a villa of 1898 set among frangipani trees on the hillside. A lighthouse built in 1862 stands on the Small Mountain with views over the bay.
