Highlights

Pottery has been a traditional culture in Cappadocia for thousands of years and this tradition dates back to Hitite Civilization. Throughout history, human beings have been creative by using the resources provided by the soil for their own benefit in everyday life. For centuries, locals have taken this clay and used traditional ancient pottery wheels to make various items such as wine jugs, cooking utensils and souvenirs. Pottery master will tell you the history of the pottery and its stages and show you how it was made with old techniques. Then, you can wear your local skirt and experience pottery making. Carpet is one of the most important decorative items in the art history of the Turks. Its origins go back to ancient times for aesthetic purposes and covering the floor to make it warm. During the workshop tour, information is given about the tradition of carpet weaving in Turkey, its history, weaving techniques, root dyes, wool types, obtaining silk from silk cocoons.

About Goreme

Göreme sits in the heart of Cappadocia, a surreal landscape of fairy chimneys, cave churches and dawn skies filled with hot-air balloons.

Göreme's houses and hotels are carved into soft volcanic rock, and the town is ringed by valleys of cone-shaped fairy chimneys shaped by erosion. The Göreme Open-Air Museum gathers rock-cut monasteries and churches whose frescoes, painted by Byzantine monks, still glow with colour, especially in the Dark Church.

Top-ranked sights in Goreme: Pigeon Valley (Güvercinlik Vadisi), Devrent Valley (Devrent Vadisi), Monks Valley (Pasabag Vadisi).
