Highlights
Church Beck is a 100% wet ghyll - and that is exactly the point. Big jumps, natural rock slides, deep plunge pools and waterfalls you climb rather than admire from a path. Every jump and slide is optional, with an easy route past anything you would rather watch. What sets us apart: you are guided by a fully qualified, locally based instructor from a small independent Lake District company - not a seasonal hire. We keep groups small so you get real attention, and we have earned a 5-star rating from over 500 reviews doing exactly this. All technical kit is included: wetsuit, helmet, buoyancy aid, harness and boots. We also send you photographs of your adventure afterwards, free. And if it rains? Even better. The beck comes alive in the wet. You are in a wetsuit either way - this is one Lake District day out that improves in bad weather.

5Brilliant!
Brilliant day out, very professional, safe and enjoyable. Jack was excellent throughout. This adventure really pushed me outside my comfort zone.
5Church Beck Gorge Scrambling / Canyonning - great fun for all the family
During February half term we visited the Lake District and booked to attend Church Beck Gorge Scrambling / Canyonning for ages 10 plus. Our group consisted of an adult, two boys aged 17 and 16 and a girl aged 11. Jack managed our booking and was there nice and early to meet us at the location. Taking account of the time of year he gave us good advice prior to arrival on appropriate clothing to be worn based on the conditions and water temperature. On our arrival Jack had further considered this and provided us with not one but two wetsuits each to wear to help ensure we enjoyed the experience. We walked to the Beck and Jack gave us clear instructions as to what was expected. The water was fast flowing but Jack made it clear that the one thing he didn't compromise on was safety. After a few checks we set off to enjoy our experience. Jack was a great leader and gave us all clear instructions and direction. He was especially supportive and encouraging of my eleven year daughter clearly putting her at ease. We all greatly enjoyed the experience and look forward to repeating some time in the future

About Carlisle
Carlisle, a border city on the River Eden near Scotland, has a red sandstone castle, a cathedral with a star-spangled ceiling and Hadrian's Wall close by.
Carlisle stands in the far north-west of England, about fifteen kilometres from the Scottish border, where the Eden meets the Caldew and Petteril. The Romans founded a fort here, Luguvalium, on the line of Hadrian's Wall, which ends at the Solway coast to the west. Carlisle Castle, begun in the 1090s, held Mary, Queen of Scots in 1568 and saw fighting in the Jacobite rising of 1745. The red sandstone fortress is now a museum of border history.
