It was the imperial city of the Mughal rulers. Within the Fort you will find many fairy tale palaces, such as the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal - built by Shah Jahan. Sunset is one of the best times to view this amazing sight considered by some as a “Monument to Love”. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built the monument in memory of his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is an immense mausoleum of beautiful white marble with inlaid precious stones built between 1631 and 1648. It is the jewel of Muslim art in India and considered to be one of the most impressive architectural masterpieces in the world. About New Delhi
New Delhi pairs the stately avenues of India's capital with the bazaars and Mughal monuments of Old Delhi, a city of layered empires and great food.
The planned capital centres on a grand ceremonial avenue running from India Gate to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the presidential palace. Nearby, Humayun's Tomb, a forerunner of the Taj Mahal, sits in formal gardens, and the Qutub Minar, a towering sandstone minaret, rises in the south. The Lotus Temple and the vast Akshardham complex add striking modern landmarks.
