Itinerary
The Spanish Fort overlooks Hvar Town and provides wide views over the harbor and surrounding islands. Upon arrival, you can park the buggy nearby and explore the fort at your own pace. Visitors can walk along the historic walls and learn more about its important defensive role in protecting the town.
Malo Grablje is an abandoned stone village located a short drive from Hvar Town. Once a small farming settlement, it was gradually deserted in the 20th century as residents moved closer to the coast. Today, its empty stone houses and narrow paths create a quiet and atmospheric setting, offering a glimpse into Hvar’s rural past. It is a unique stop for walking, exploring, and taking photos away from the busy seaside areas.
Zaraće is a small village located about 7 km from Hvar Town on the island’s southern cliffs. Below the village are two pebble coves; Velo Zaraće to the right and Malo Zaraće to the left, separated by only a few hundred meters. Surrounded by steep rocky cliffs and clear blue sea, these beaches offer a more natural and dramatic setting than most beaches near town.
About 9 km east of Hvar Town, along the southern coast, lies the beautiful cove of Dubovica. Above the pebble beach stands a historic stone house that resembles a small seaside castle, giving the cove its distinctive character. The buggy is parked along the main road above, followed by a walk of less than 10 minutes down to the beach. Proper shoes are recommended, as the path is uneven.
Tvrdalj Castle was the summer residence of the Croatian poet Petar Hektorović (1487–1572). In the 16th century, when Hvar faced attacks from the Ottoman Empire, Hektorović fortified his home so it could serve as a refuge for local residents. Today, visitors can explore this historic complex and see how a Renaissance noble combined poetry, architecture and defense in one unique residence.
Duboković Winery is a small, family-owned winery located near Jelsa, known for producing high-quality wines from native Dalmatian grape varieties. With a strong focus on tradition and limited production, the winery offers a more intimate and authentic tasting experience compared to larger commercial producers. Visitors can learn about local winemaking methods, explore the cellar, and enjoy carefully crafted wines that reflect the character of Hvar’s climate and soil.
Brusje is a small traditional village located in the hills above Hvar Town, known for its lavender fields, olive groves and stone houses. Surrounded by dry-stone walls and open countryside, the village offers a peaceful atmosphere and wide views over the island’s northern coast. It is one of the oldest settlements on Hvar and provides insight into the island’s rural life and agricultural traditions.
Fort Napoleon rises above Hvar Town and offers one of the best panoramic views on the island. From the viewpoint, you can see the town’s red rooftops, the Pakleni Islands and the open Adriatic Sea. Park the buggy below the fortress, walk a few meters to the viewpoint and take your time enjoying the scenery and taking photos, especially at sunset.

5One of the best days...
One of the best days we’ve had on our vacation! We stopped everywhere on the list they gave us. Took a dip at different beautiful beaches, stopped for lunch in Stari Grad at one of the best restaurants we’ve been to in Croatia & went wine tasting at our last stop. The day was perfect and we highly recommend!
5MUST BOOK WITH REAL HVAR!
I did a bunch of research on where to book an ATV for the day to explore Hvar and ended up landing on Real Hvar because of their incredible customer service from the get-go. I inquired with some questions and they got back to me right away + helped me book the best ATV for our plan. Check in and check out was a breeze and we had it all day! They even gave us a map to follow that led us all around the island and told us where to stop - it was seriously so much fun and we would 1000% book with them again!!!
5Take the Buggy on Hvar
A great experience from start to finish. The buggy we hired was great fun and it enabled us to just pull over, stop, take some photos or stroll about as we pleased. The suggested route on google maps worked very well
5Great way to see the island!
My family of 4 had some time to kill between checking out from our lodging and taking a late afternoon ferry so we decided to rent a buggy. It was so much fun! I wish we had more time because we didn’t make it to all the recommended stops. However, we did see quite a lot and had lunch in Stari Grad. Picking it up and getting started was super easy as well as the drop off. Highly recommend!
5Exceptional company and customer service
Exceptional customer service from a very friendly lady at the front desk, she gave us stunning recommendations of places to go on our day in Hvar. There was a helpful man who picked out at bike to suit us as a couple, he explained the workings of the bike and how to use it appropriately. Lastly, we contacted the company out of hours, due to a ferry we previously booked for the following day. They replied swiftly in the evening, to help us make the early morning ferry. I would highly recommend this company and we thank all staff that have supported and helped us. Thank you. Alex
5Please use Real Hvar scooter hire
If you get the chance to use Real Hvar, please do so! Christian and his colleague could not have been more accommodating. When we exained our rough idea of the route we would take, he filled in all of the spots that we should see. His suggestions were fantastic and we would surely have missed some of them as mere tourists. Their equipment is all very well maintained and we had a fantastic day getting to parts of Hvar Island that most tourists never get to see.
