Kemer is a resort town on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, where pine-covered Taurus mountains drop to pebble beaches, ancient ruins and a marina.

Kemer lies on the Gulf of Antalya, south-west of the city of Antalya, where the pine forests of the Taurus Mountains come down almost to the sea. It grew from a village into a resort of hotels, a marina and a long pebbly shore. Behind the town the peak of Tahtalı Dağı rises to more than 2,300 metres, and a cable car climbs to its summit from the coast.
Phaselis, an ancient Lycian port with three small harbours, lies among pines beside the sea. Further south the ruins of Olympos sit in a wooded valley, and the Chimaera, flames that burn from natural gas on a mountainside, flicker above the coast. Göynük Canyon has a stream and rock walls for walking, the Lycian Way footpath passes through the area, and the beaches at Çıralı and Adrasan are quieter. Boats run along the coast, and Antalya's old town is a short drive away.
Antalya's piyaz, a white bean salad dressed with tahini, is eaten with grilled meatballs, and a Turkish breakfast of cheese, olives, tomatoes and eggs sets the day, with fresh fish and gözleme in the restaurants. Citrus groves and honey come from the region, and snow stays on the high peaks into spring.
