Highlights

Go beyond Évora and discover the Alentejo through one of its most iconic treasures: cork. Explore the montado, the landscape shaped by cork and holm oaks. Learn how cork is harvested, why the oak survives harvesting, and how this tradition has shaped local communities. Visit a cork-processing factory to see how raw cork becomes designed products and discover the craftsmanship behind an industry that made Portuguese cork famous worldwide. Continue to Evoramonte, where a hilltop castle overlooks the Alentejo. Explore its history and enjoy wide views. More than a factory or castle tour, this private experience connects nature, sustainability, craftsmanship, rural culture and history. Since 2015, Portugal Cultural Experience has welcomed thousands of travellers worldwide, with local heritage experts. In around three hours, discover an Alentejo many visitors never see — from the living cork oak to a medieval fortress.
