The Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is one of the most highly revered temples in Thailand. The temple is one of the best examples of Lanna style architecture in Thailand. Its viharns that are open on all sides are typical of the early Lanna style. The temple was founded in the 13th century.
The temple's origins date from the 11th century but the central stupa is thought to originate in the 9th century.
