After a spectacular sunrise, the caravan heads to Erg Smar, an abandoned ancient nomadic village where there is still a well. It is a day rich in contrasts between sand dunes and vestiges of sedentary nomadic life.

About M'Hamid
M'Hamid is the last oasis village at the end of the Draa Valley road, a gateway to the Saharan dunes of southern Morocco.
M'Hamid El Ghizlane lies at the southern end of the Draa Valley in south-eastern Morocco, where the road ends and the Sahara begins. The village is a small place of mud-brick houses and a market, set among palm groves watered by the Draa river, which usually runs dry before it reaches the Atlantic. Berber and Arab families live here, and for centuries caravans crossed the desert from this edge of the sand.
