Itinerary

  1. Chefchaouen, or Chaouen, is a city located in the Rif Mountains, in northwest Morocco. It is famous for the remarkable buildings in different shades of faded blue of its old town. Leatherwork and weaving workshops line its steep cobbled paths. On the shaded central square of Outaouais Hammam is the casbah with red walls, fortress and dungeon of the 15th century with ethnographic and artistic exhibitions. The octagonal minaret of the Great Mosque stands nearby.

About Tangier

Tangier sits where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean, a storied Moroccan port of whitewashed medina lanes, a hilltop kasbah and views to Spain.

The medina climbs from the port to the kasbah, where the old sultan's palace, Dar el Makhzen, holds a museum with views across the Strait of Gibraltar. The Grand Socco and Petit Socco were long the meeting points of the city, and their cafés recall Tangier's decades as an international zone that drew writers, musicians and artists.

Top-ranked sights in Tangier: Cape Spartel, Caves of Hercules, Tangier Kasbah.
