Itinerary

  1. Government House dominates the west end of the Town Plaza, a unique Spanish land use component lying within a National Historic Landmark District. Along coasts, plazas were to begin at the waterfront - to see and to be seen. Since 1598, a government building has stood on this site with a view of the harbor landing, accommodating administrative headquarters and residences of colonial governors appointed by the Crowns of Spain, then Britain, then Spain again. After Spain ceded Florida to the United States in 1821, this current Government House served as a courthouse and briefly as a Capitol of the new Territory of Florida.

  2. Historic park in the center of downtown St. Augustine. The original city plan was built out from this location. It is bordered by The Government House, the Cathedral Basilica, and the Bridge of Lions and Matanzas Bay. Spain's 1573 Law of the Indies, Leyes de los Indies, specified that colonial town plans set aside such a plaza for government, church and public use. Along coasts, plazas were to begin at the waterfront - to see and to be seen.

  3. Housed in the former Ponce de Leon Hotel that was built by Henry Flagler in 1888.

  4. Visit some of our favorite vendors and discover the history of St. Augustine's most famous street.

    30 min

  5. The Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine is a historic cathedral in St. Augustine, Florida, and the seat of the Catholic Bishop of St. Augustine. Constructed over five years (1793–1797), it was designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark on April 15, 1970. Its congregation, established in 1565, is the oldest Christian congregation in the contiguous United States.

  • 5Sweet experience, highly recommend!

What a fun and sweet experience. Alex was an excellent tour guide, passionate and educational. All the sweets were very tasty and we also got a goodie cooler of sweets to take home. Hyppo popsicles and Piece, Love and Dunts minis were to die for.

  • 5The best food tour ever!

Kudos to Alex for giving my wife and I a wonderful food and history tour of St Augustine. The food was off the main path(our favorite way to eat), but absolutely delicious. We met really nice local chefs and waiters, got a few free “tastes” of the good stuff, learned interesting history(Ponce de Leon was just 4’11”?!)and all while making a new friend in Alex. Now let’s do the bourbon tour!!!

  • 5BEST Tours in St. Augustine!

BOOK NOW! My husband and I were on our honeymoon and the tours we went on ended up being major highlights of our trip! Russ, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable, extraordinarily kind, and one of the best humans we have ever met! We cannot stress enough how wonderful he is! We had a great time on our sweets and History Tour, the history tour, and, most notably, the whiskey and bourbon tour! The whiskey and bourbon tour was particularly amazing! Since this company has incredible relationships with all the restaurants and the St. Augustine Distillery, you get VIP experiences and treatment! Whether or not you currently enjoy whiskey, you will at least appreciate it after this tour! We loved our experience and Russ so much! HIGHLY recommend!!

  • 5Russ the Amazing Tour Guide

We enjoyed our Food & History tour with Russ! It was an amazing experience that we will cherish as being part of our Wedding weekend. Russ led us to various establishments to sample some of their best food. I ate Oyster for the first time! Russ was kind and reminded me to have my napkin near in case it did not agree with me (thankfully it was delicious!). My husband truly appreciated the intimate eating & tour setting. He began engaging Russ in conversation. This was a shock to me, as my husband is very quiet and reserved. Russ had an amazing personality that made it easy to partake in conversation, ask questions, and enjoy the tour. Thank you again Russ for the amazing tour! We will definitely be back!

About St Augustine

St Augustine is a Florida town on the Atlantic coast, founded by the Spanish in 1565, with a coquina fort, narrow streets and Victorian-era hotels.

St Augustine was founded by the Spanish in 1565 and is the oldest continuously occupied European-founded settlement in the continental United States. The Castillo de San Marcos, a fort of pale coquina shell stone built by the Spanish between 1672 and 1695, guards the waterfront. The Spanish Quarter, pedestrian St George Street and the cathedral basilica sit within a few blocks, and the Bridge of Lions crosses to Anastasia Island.
